The Leaders of Community Bible Church

Community Bible Church desires to submit to the leading of Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:22-23; 4:15-16; Col. 1:18). As the head of the church, Christ has established guidelines for proper leadership within the church.

Two groups of leaders addressed in Scripture are “elders” and “deacons.” Their qualifications, and examples of responsibilities, are set forth in the Bible (e.g. I Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-9; Acts 6:1-6; 20:17-35; Heb. 13:7, 17; I Pet. 5:1-5).

In addition to these two groups, other committees have been established to oversee various ministries. Each committee is accountable to the elders, who provide the overall guidance for Community Bible Church.

The elders are responsible for ensuring that God’s truth is clearly taught and that all ministries are consistent with the purpose of the church as set forth in the Bible. They share the shepherding responsibilities within Community Bible Church.

Primary responsibilities of the deacons include overseeing the care of the physical facility of Community Bible Church, planning various events during the year, and meeting special needs which might arise.

Christian Education

This group oversees the morning Sunday school program for both youth and adults, as well as the Sunday evening youth groups. Responsibilities include securing qualified teachers, providing curriculum, establishing guidelines, and addressing other issues relating to the educational activities.

The Mission Committee fosters an awareness of, and participation in missions, through communication with missionaries, updates about the missionaries, maintaining a mission display in the entryway, scheduling speakers and other special events, etc.

The Worship Committee plans the Sunday morning worship services. Each service is designed to praise and glorify Jesus Christ through music, Scripture readings, children’s messages, mission reports, personal testimonies, prayer, teaching from God’s word, etc.

Those who oversee the nursery are responsible for securing and scheduling volunteers, upkeep of the nursery, maintaining necessary supplies, and addressing other issues relating to the nursery.
